A car which is meant to be used for drift and trackdays was used by Kevin Abbring during a 'short rally' around the Zandvoort racetrack.
Together with occasional codriver Rober Romviel on his side Kevin pushed the 'GP-Elite' BMW to a incredible 5th place overall and won the class.
'Awesome to show what can be done with a car like this. I really enjoyed driving her. Efficient high speed drifting is always a good practice! A special thanks to GP-Elite.' Said Kevin Abbring after the event.
Despite of a broken gearbox on the very first special stage Kevin was able to return to do the last three nightstages after replacing the original gearbox with a standard one.
Together with the German occasion codriver Wolf-Dieter Ihle they managed to set some very fast times including a 3rd time overall.
'It wasn't an easy job knowing that we were the only one not able to do the stages overday. Hard conditions including ice and fog didn't help to make it easier in the night. Though we were very pleased with the boys finding an additional gearbox to do some stages at the end!' Said Kevin Abbring after the event.
Kevin and Wolf-Dieter will return to Spa next year to be competitive from the beginning till the end. See you there...
